I have all ready sent this to Corporate however i forgot to include its Waynesville, MO this one is located at.

I visit this Kum & Go in Waynesville Mo. a lot as it is close to my home, however there continues to be expired items here. I have brought it to the attention of different employees, one in specific told me it wasn't her job to deal with expired items it was day times job. This item being a gallon of milk, my response to her was oh I'm sorry I didn't know it was my job to find your expired milk. Last night 4 Dec 11 I was at the store and again found expired items, to make a valid point I went through a majority of the items in the store, and after finding a few was given a bucket by an employee to put the items in. When I had left I had found 50 or more items that were expired, I am honestly not trying to get anyone fired but someone needs to make them have more attention to detail, especially since the day manager had signed off saying all expired items were checked for. I also asked for the DM's number to contact him and was told the employees did not know his number, so I asked for the CEO/Presidents number and again was told that information was not known. This is not the first time I or other customers have found expired items, in fact the milk was the biggest thing recently leading the managers to say it had been resolved. And would not happen again as they know they can't sell expired milk, last night alone I found 4 1/2 gallons of expired milk. I have pictures of some of the stuff as well as I am supposed to meet one of the managers tonight 5 Dec 11 at 1800, having children I do not appreciate being told it is not employees jobs to check for expired items. And if this is not fixed I will make sure it is known to everyone around this store, no this is in no way a threat however it is unacceptable for a gas station trying to be number one in the country.

To the one leaving the comment about Jordan Creek Walmart being "helpful":

That is a lie. Not any one of the Walmarts within the Des Moines area are helpful at all. My mother shopped at the one on 8th street and people pee in the sinks there or what have you. It has been a violator of many incidences involving human waste matter! The employees at the Jordan Creek location could care LESS about your experience there. They are just as dirty, if not dirtier than the ones at the 8th street location. Not only that, their managers there are snobby as hell and unwilling to be that helpful and just make it look like they are. The deli, customer service and reliability standards there suck! Also, bathrooms are not well-kept most of the time, and sometimes they have stalls which have been taped up with duct tape with human waste matter still in the pot and the entire restroom literally reeks of poo. So how bout that about your "good experience" at Jordan Creek Walmart? And 14th Street is no better, it's like you go in there and not get help, the managers there don't care either and it's filthy the same as the one at Jordan Creek.

Seems we can't get any decent Walmarts HERE. Let's make more Super Target stores, since they obviously know how to keep their restrooms clean, help you in the store, and have better quality items anyhow even though it's a few cents more. I would rather shop there!

Thank you for your comments. They reflect the view of a segment of the population, a view that I believe is dangerous. What you call being "sold to," I call basic human interaction - affirmation, kindness, engagement, a handshake, a smile, an emotional connection. I don't think we shop at stores to get stuff. I think we shop because we want to see other people shopping, and selling, and interacting, happily. It's the unhappy, off-putting employees (and customers) who make you want to be left alone. We weren't born wanting to be ignored. We were taught it by years of horrific customer service, of ambivalent cashiers and unhappy retail workers.

I'm not looking for information from employees, I'm looking for affirmation. By marginalizing their existence - by waiting "nearby" as you suggest, retail employees risk "working" themselves out of a job, and eliminating an entire sector of the working class. If all we're shopping for is the information about the stuff and the stuff itself, then there's no need for human beings. No need for a handshake, a hello and a smile. No need for someone to tell us we look good, or that we've made a good choice, or that they use it too. Eliminate the affirmation. Pile the crap on shelves, set up computer kiosks throughout the store and eliminate employees altogether. And while you are at it, eliminate brick and mortar stores entirely. Order everything from your couch, at home. Build robots to oversee the organizing and delivery of merchandise stacked inside huge warehouses. Make it about the stuff, the whole stuff and nothing but the stuff, so help you, Walmart. Your "under 30" world is cold and distant and gray, a Stephen King horror story. It's Blade Runner, realized. Eventually the worker robots will become consumers, too, and there will be no need for color and taste and smell and feel, no subtlety, no art, no nurturing, no affirmation - no humanity.

So if someone is kind to you, smiles at you, greets you and asks you an open-ended question in a retail setting, don't assume they're trying to sell you. Maybe they just want to help you. And "wanting" is something still uniquely human - at least for now. :)

I can't say that I totally disagree with your evaluations, as I was not present, but a lot of the qualities you wanted the associates to display are exactly the types of things that younger shoppers (say, under 30) really dislike. People of my generation tend to hate being "sold to" or harassed while shopping, as we've already done extensive online research before setting foot into the store. We prefer our retail service people to be out of the way but nearby to answer questions if needed. Honestly, if I'm shopping and I have to tell someone I don't need anything more than once, I'm going to steer clear of that person as much as possible. I think, going forward, this style is going to become much more popular among customers, particularly as these younger shoppers move up into higher income brackets and their parents shift out into retirement.

Are you people trying to make Iowa State seem stupid with these rediculous responses or what? Everyone certainly is "selling" this University. If you are at your desk, do your research. But if you dare step foot outside your office you better be willing to engage, have a smile on your face and be selling this University. Jonnie is SO RIGHT about so many things. We all should be selling this University if we want to have a job. It is very competitive out there. What kind of money do you think that this University spends on developing new marketing ideas? What about the work that is done building the new state of the art buildings or helping to make our campus look nice? Do you think it is so people will make their decisions from home or so they will come and visit the University? IT'S SO THEY WILL COME AND VISIT AND SPEND $100,000 SENDING THEIR CHILD HERE TO GET THAT GREAT EDUCATION! It's not really about the looks but I guarantee you that this helps and it is about the state of the art buildings and the people that they are going to interacting with while they are here. If we can't get people on campus then it's tougher to sell them the opportunity. When they are here, if we ignore them and don't show them that we want them here then they won't choose our great campus either. Why do we even bother to invite "Prospective Students and their families" to tour our campus if we are not selling this University? What about the donors that so gratiously give to our campus? Do you really want to snub them, too? Why do we have other items to sell in the bookstore (besides textbooks) if we are not trying to fulfill a need and sell them? What about our cafes and food courts? Why is there a hotel in the Memorial Union if we are not trying to sell hotel rooms to our customers? How do you think this campus continues to exist year after year? Do you think that it's solely based on your research efforts? If so, you are sadly mistaken. Though it may provide a large amount of money, it's not everything. It is a combined effort so get off your "high horse" and come down to earth with the rest of us that are trying to do our customer service jobs every day! EVERYONE HAD BETTER REMEMBER THAT, THE NEXT TIME THEY WALK BY SOMEONE IN THE HALL! Choosing to Smile, say Hello and possibly take 10 seconds to give someone directions is the very least that we all can do!!! Thank you for visiting our campus, Jonnie. I only hope that the University pays more attention to your comments and does something about these fools that don't think we need to "sell" our University.

Jeez Ralph... you rail against Jonnie for his review and his methods/approach to reviewing... yet you ramble on in a manner barely coherent. What makes you better than him? You come off sounding far worse, just FYI.

As for preaching the praises of American TV. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you completely. The store I am referencing is a different one than the one reviewed, in a different state actually, however I can personally speak to customer service problems. Problems much different than the social interactions of the employee's and perspective customer.

In addition to the problems I am having with the store in my area, I too experienced nearly everything that Jonnie calls them out on, and I too found myself rather turned off by the shopping experience. It will be a very long time, if ever, before I return to purchase something at this retailer.
